Here’s what you need to do to dominate the field of direct marketing:

1. Do demonstrations. If you are targeting prospects from a particular geographical location, I recommend that you do demonstrations on local malls so your prospects will have an idea as to how your products really work. You need to know how to engage your audience so they’ll stay throughout your presentation and hopefully, make a purchase. Don’t forget to highlight the features, benefits, selling points, and competitive advantage of your offerings to make them more valuable and enticing to the eyes of your target market.

2. Join expos. This is the best way to easily connect with a bunch of people who are most likely to buy from you. For example, if you are selling wedding gowns, you can join bridal expos where you can surely get in touch with brides-to-be who are looking for the best gowns. Give your business cards to every individual you meet on the expos. Yes, they might not be interested on what you sell but they might know someone who does.

3. Telemarketing. If you confident in selling over the phone, you can go ahead and call your potential clients to offer your products and services. To get them to say “yes” make sure that you have a compelling sales script that can engage these people. You must be very effective in answering all their product-related questions and you must know how to project yourself as an expert so you can easily earn their trust.

4. High quality marketing list. Before you send your direct mailings, make sure that you have a high quality list that contains only the names of those people who are really interested in buying from you. Aside from shopping for an affordable price, it is important that you check on the quality of the contact that a direct mailing company provides. This is to save you some time, energy, and even money on those people who will not surely buy from you under any circumstances.

5. Make follow-ups. Start the day by making follow-ups on leads that you have previously generated. Call your prospects or send them an email to maintain or even increase their interest over your products and services. Do this until you get them to buy from you. Don’t forget to highlight the benefits that your products can offer each time you make a follow-up as this can influence the buying decision of your prospects.
